Most people don’t want to admit to binge-watching YouTube, or that they spent more time scrolling on their phones in the last day than they spent reading in the past month. But numbers don’t lie; someone is watching all that content. And if you haven’t jumped into video marketing, you’re missing out on all that opportunity.

YouTube reports that every day people watch a billion hours of content on their site. A billion!

Ready to hear a few more reasons why you need to get started on video marketing? Here are five good ones:

People Like It

Video is compelling and it’s an incredibly easy way to learn information. And the stats show that people do indeed prefer it. For instance, Twitter says that a tweet with a video gets ten times the engagement of a text-only tweet. Video is popular on Facebook, too. Digiday reports that there are over 8 billion video views on Facebook each day, and 85% are viewed without sound.

It's Good for Your SEO

Search engines love new content, and they particularly like videos. Make sure that you include meta descriptions and keywords in your videos so that you get as much benefit for your ranking as you can.

There’s a Lot of Flexibility With Video

There’s so much mileage you can get out of a good video. You can post it on social media, embed it in a webinar and include it in your online video library. You can also create a variety of lengths and formats, mixing up how-to video marketing with pranks or even a TikTok dance trend.

Videos Add Value

Not only do videos tend to see a positive return on investment, they also provide value for your viewers. It’s a convenient way to share little-known uses for a product, answer a quick question or unbox a new product or service line. When you include short-form videos for social platforms, you can communicate valuable bits of information and show your customers that you respect their time.

Embrace Authenticity

Whether you’re a global brand or a locally-owned shop, your customers want to know that, ultimately, they are just one person interacting with another. Video marketing is great for capturing the authenticity of your message to customers. It allows your customers to see the faces behind their favorite brand and feel a connection with your company. Video does this better than any other marketing format.

This is something our company had leaned into heavily. It's not the easiest thing to maintain, but we've gotten into a pretty good flow, posted daily videos on socials and youtube. We even have our own podcast streaming on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart Radio, Amazon, and more.  Check out all of our latest posts and podcasts for marketing tips and motivation.
